Mission Statement, History and Description
The University of Michigan Human Powered Submarine Team’s mission is to gain engineering knowledge and skills through a team effort to design, finance, build, and race a human powered submarine.
The University of Michigan Human Powered Submarine team began in 1997 when they designed, built, and raced SeaWolv, a two-person propeller submarine. Since then the team has had six different hulls and has competed in 12 different races. Every year the team continues to expand its knowledge and ability to build a fully-flooded, pedal-powered submarine.
This year the Michigan team will be racing a one-person propeller submarine. This will be the 7th submarine the team has made and the 4th submarine entered into the European International Submarine Races.
